Persistence or Perfection
In my devotions this morning I read this statement: “God is looking for persistence rather than perfection.” While that is not an original thought from me, I totally agree with it.
Perfection is a great word. The dictionary says, “It is without flaw or defect.” Honestly, who doesn’t want to be “perfect?” And yet who of us can ever achieve perfection, no matter how hard we try?
And persistence? “That’s continuing despite opposition.” Let’s face it; it seems like we face opposition every single day. Sometimes it may be a lot and sometimes less. But it’s always there.
In John 16:33 (Amp) it says, “In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration.” Does that sound like one of your days or weeks?
But then it goes on to say, “But be of good cheer (take courage, be confident certain, undaunted)!”
And then here comes the best part! Jesus said, “For I have overcome the world. (I deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.)”
Now might be a good time to say, “Thank you, Jesus!”
Persistence or Perfection? I’m going to go with PERSISTENCE!
