Just a Word of Encouragement
It seems like so many friends and people in our church family are going through difficult situations. Sometimes it seems like there is trouble everywhere we look.
In times like these, the best thing to do is go to God’s Word for peace. And there it is!
Psalm 138:7-8: “Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will bring me safely through them. You will clench your fist against my angry enemies! Your power will save me. The Lord will work out His plans for my life – for your lovingkindness, Lord, continues forever. Don’t abandon me for you made me.”
So, let’s break this down. Yes, we may be surrounded by troubles but we are certain God will bring us safely through them.
And not only that, but He will clench His fist against our angry enemies! (I don’t take that lightly – If God is clenching His fist at my enemies!) HIS power will save me.
But it doesn’t just stop there. He works out His plans for our lives! His lovingkindness continues forever. And then we are reminded that He made us.
And if that isn’t enough, look back at verse 2 in this same chapter and it says that God’s promises are backed by the honor of HIS name. Now my name may not be that important and not hold any great value, but God’s name – that’s something else.
When God sent Moses to speak to Pharaoh, this is what He told him to say in Exodus 3:14-15: “ ‘The Sovereign God,’ ” was the reply. “Just say, ‘I Am has sent me!’ Yes, tell them, ‘Jehovah, the God of your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has sent me to you.’ (This is my eternal name, to be used throughout all generations.)”
Sovereign means above or superior to all others. Eternal means without beginning or end; everlasting. So, the one and only God who is superior to all others, who is without beginning or end, everlasting, HE is the One in our corner! HE is the one fighting our battles!
I think we can rest in HIM because I am pretty sure he can handle whatever we are going through! Now might be a pretty good time to give Him a shout of praise!
