Significant Moments

Life is measured by “significant moments.”  But what are the significant moments in our lives?  There are those very special times that stand out in all of our minds, like when we first decided to follow Jesus, or got married, or when we had a baby!

But besides that, what are some other significant moments?  It might be meeting someone famous, or maybe visiting a special place.

I have great memories of being in the East Room at the White House and hearing President Bush’s remarks at the National Day of Prayer event several years ago.

But, I have been thinking about what God would consider special moments in my life.  I think His list might be very different from the one I would make.

I remember getting on a plane one day and finding my seat next to a lady who was very distraught.  I quickly realized that I was not going to read my book on this trip!

I began to share my faith and tell her what God could do in her life.  I asked her if I could pray with her right there on the plane and she agreed.  (I mean really, what was she going to do?  Push me off the plane?  I had a captive audience!)

There was another lady in a nail salon whom I met while visiting my daughter in Florida.  We began to talk and she shared with me a sad story of what her family was going through.  I asked her if I could meet her outside the salon and pray with her and she agreed.

I believe God arranges these “God moments” because He wants us to share His love with a hurting world.  He wants them to come to know His Son who died for them.

I actually don’t remember those two ladies’ names but the point is there are people all around us in need of a Savior.  Let’s look for those hurting people.

Maybe we plant the seed and someone else will reap the harvest.  But, the important thing is that we are obedient to do what God has called us to do.  I think these are the “significant moments” to God!
