Run, Walk, Soar
I think as a believer, one of my favorite verses would have to be Isaiah 40: 31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”
But how do we wait on the Lord? Obviously, through prayer and Bible study and also through our worship. But I also think there are other ways, such as thinking about:
1. What God has done for us.
2. What God is working out in our lives right now.
3. What God is going to do in our future.
4. And then there is thinking about who God is: His very nature and character.
Some different translations say it a little differently, like when we wait on God, we will get “fresh” strength, or when we run, we won’t get tired and when we walk, we won’t lag behind.
But my favorite is when it says, “We will soar like eagles.” I don’t know about you, but I am ready to soar with the eagles. There is nothing more majestic than watching eagles soar in the sky!
Just for fun I looked up the word soar. One definition is “to rise above the ordinary level.” That means no matter what is going on around you right now, you can rise above it and SOAR!
So, no matter where you are, what your day has been like, take a minute and wait on the Lord. Run! Walk! And soar with the eagles!
