The Power of Resisting The Enemy
James 4:7 - Resist the devil (stand firm against him), and he will flee from you.
But how do we do that? I believe there are some very specific things we can do in order to resist the enemy who is fighting against us.
Of course we stay in God’s Word. When you don’t know what else to read, turn to the Psalms! There you will find hope and encouragement! Ask for prayer from a prayer partner that you know will hold you up and intercede for you! And most importantly, you pray. If you have a prayer language, now is the time to use it. And I believe a really powerful way to pray is to pray out loud! I know God hears the cry of our heart and even a whispered prayer, but think about this. I can whisper a quiet prayer of protection over my family or I can say, “God, would you protect my family today? From Alaska, to Michigan, to Texas, would you be the foundation under them and keep them grounded in you? Be the covering over them. Be the hedge of protection around them that the enemy cannot penetrate.” See the difference? Pray out loud!! And let God guide you as you pray.
Isaiah 50:7 – For the Lord God helps me; therefore have I not been ashamed or confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
I heard my mother say that over and over. “Set your face like flint.” I looked up flint in the dictionary and it is anything hard and unyielding. This means you absolutely don’t give up!
So if you are struggling (and we all do from time to time), put these things into practice! Set your face like flint! You are resisting the devil and he has to flee! And I don’t think “flee” is a slow jog! I think this means he is on the run!
