Tracking with God
Several months ago, I was blessed to hear Alex Kendrick speak. If you are not familiar with him, he is one of the Kendrick brothers who have made the movies Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous, War Room and Overcomer (which comes out in August of this year). I believe they are called to make these Christian movies just as much as we are as pastors are called to minister in churches. They have had a profound impact on my life!
One of the things he said was that it is important to “track with God”. He said, “Don’t get ahead of God. Don’t lag behind Him, but track with Him.”
I think that’s an interesting statement. Probably our biggest tendency is to lag behind. But for me personally, I probably want to run ahead. I don’t want to know just what I will be doing tomorrow, but how about next week, next month or even next year?
Maybe a big part of their success is that they wait on God. They allow Him to direct them in what they do, how they do it and when they do it. One thing Eddy always says is, “let’s do what God is blessing, not just ask Him to bless what we are doing.”
“My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.” Ps. 62:5
“But those who wait for the Lord (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up (close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun); they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” Is. 40:31
So let’s track with God and wait on Him. His timing is perfect! He’s never late!
