Letting Go and Grabbing Hold

There are so many great advances in technology these days! We live in exiting times!

But one thing I miss from the past is the circus. Children these days will never have the opportunity to see a real circus except maybe in the movies! And the thing I miss most is the trapeze artists!

I can remember so many times watching them gracefully perform above the circus arena. You would sit there breathlessly wondering if they could perform without falling! It was so great!!!

But the one thing that always impresses me about these skilled people, is that as they fly through the air from one swing to another, they cannot grab hold of the next swing until they release the one they are holding on to.

Obviously, they have had a lot of practice! But there is always that moment when they have to let go.

It reminds me so much of our lives as believers. We cannot reach ahead to grasp what God has in front of us until we are willing to release what is in our hand.

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to hang on so tightly to the present that I can’t reach for the future. So let’s let go! Reach ahead! And see all that God has ahead of us!
