Nothing? Really?

There’s a great little verse hidden way down in Psalm 119. It’s verse 165 and it says, “Great peace have they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them.” Now, I could understand if it said “some things won’t offend us.” But nothing?

I was talking to someone recently about offense and I realized that God was speaking to me about times when I have allowed myself to be offended. And haven’t we all been guilty of that? But God is saying that if we love Him, we will have peace and nothing will offend us.

So how do we live in this world and not be offended? First of all, we make the choice. I choose not to be offended. Then I pray for that person. And then I ask God to allow me to see inside that person’s world so I can understand what is really going on.

So many times when someone hurts or offends us, it isn’t really about us at all. It’s about things they are dealing with in their own life.

I heard recently about a book by Dr. Bruce and Toni Hebel entitled Forgiving Forward. I haven’t actually read it but I plan on it.

Can you imagine the power in that? What if we all put that into practice? Think of the results we would see. I believe we would have peace in the world, harmony in the home, and revival in the church!

So with God’s help, let’s do it! Let’s purpose in our hearts to forgive going forward and not be offended!
