Prayer
Prayer is such an exciting opportunity we have as believers. There are so many different aspects to this amazing thing we call prayer.
I remember several years ago, a lady came down for prayer on a Sunday morning. The first thing she said was, “I really don’t know how to pray.” My response was, “You just talk to God like you are talking to me.” That almost seems too simple, doesn’t it?
In Luke 6:12, it says that Jesus spent the whole night in prayer. I know some believers who literally spend hours in prayer. I believe that is intercessory prayer. When we pray like that, we are showing God that we are desperate for an answer. And yet I heard a minister say that one of the most powerful prayers he had ever prayed was when he said, “JESUS!!”
So which prayer does God hear and answer? I believe it’s both! God hears the sincere prayer of the believer. In James 5:16 it says, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” The main thing is that we remember to pray.
But in thinking about prayer, there is one more thing that God has impressed on my heart, and that is this: There are so many prayers that were prayed for me and over me by my parents and grandparents. So what about that? What happens to those prayers? Do they become null and void when people pass away?
Absolutely not! Those prayers are ongoing and I am reaping the benefits of the prayers of those powerful saints!
So what does that means to us? Keep Praying! Pray simply! Pray powerfully! But don’t stop! Keep praying!
