Buns and Tattoos
I was at an event recently and I was seated next to a young lady with tattoos. She was wearing a Christian T-shirt, and after listening and observing her, I thought to myself, “She’s a believer! That’s great!”
The next day, I saw a lady in a restaurant and I knew from her dress and the way she was wearing her hair in a bun, that she too, was a believer, but much more conservative in her appearance.
As I was thinking about all this, I thought how much God loves variety! The same God who created the fabulous sunflower is the God who created the beautiful rose.
Now personally, I will probably never have a tattoo, but I will also never be without my makeup. So that puts me somewhere in between these two ladies. And yet we are all part of the family of God. What makes us a part of God’s family is that we have chosen to put our faith and trust in Jesus as our Savior. It’s just that simple!
I Samuel 16:7 says, “…for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart…” The next time I am tempted to judge someone, I want God to remind me of this. He doesn’t judge us on how we look on the outside, but rather on what He sees in our hearts.
