Salt
Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” (Matthew 5:13)
I guess you could say that my recent disaster making chocolate chip cookies left me traumatized. Leaving out a teaspoon of salt made such a difference in the taste! It just doesn’t make sense that you would need a teaspoon of salt with the sugar and chocolate chips to make them taste like they should. But let me tell you it does!
And of course that got me thinking. If we are salt, we don’t want to be tasteless! But how do we stay “salty”? That’s a great question.
We need to stay in the Word! Keep up our prayer lives. Live a life of thankfulness.
I can’t think of a better way to stay fresh and to season those around us. If we are to be “salt” and “light” we have to maintain a close walk with the Lord!
And do you know what else salt does? Salt makes you thirsty! And nothing can quench our thirst like the living water that Jesus gives!
