Peace

In John 14:27, Jesus said He is giving us His peace; not the peace that the world gives, but HIS peace. And then He goes on to say, “Let not your hearts be troubled.”

I love this verse. If there has ever been a time when our world is in need of peace, it is now. But what is peace? The dictionary says peace is “tranquility.” So, what is tranquility? The dictionary says tranquility is being “undisturbed.”

That means if we are living in a place of peace, we cannot be disturbed by everything that is going on around us.

Last Christmas I heard a song with these words:

Hope is here to stay.

The baby in the stable is the only one who’s able

To bring comfort and peace

That’s never going to leave.

Jesus is going to give us peace that will never leave! And my favorite part of John 14:27? It’s when Jesus said, “Let not your hearts be troubled.” His peace is perfect, it never fails, and it is here to stay!
