Routines
Some of us just love routines! Others are more of a “free spirit.” But when you think about it, don’t we all have somewhat of a routine that we follow every day? We usually get up about the same time, brush our teeth, and probably eat three meals a day. But what about our “spiritual routine?”
What we do for our spiritual health is the most important thing we can do. Our spiritual routine should include three things: reading God’s Word, time spent in prayer and maintaining a thankful heart.
Reading God’s Word is vital to our spiritual wellbeing. Psalm 119:105 says, “God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” There are so many great stories in the Bible. If you are looking for encouragement, spend time in the Book of Psalms. If you need guidance for practical Christian living, read the writings of Paul.
Don’t neglect time spent in prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” Bring your petitions to God, believing that He will answer!
Lastly, our hearts need to be full of thanksgiving for all that God has done for us and in anticipation for all that He is going to do. Psalm 100:4 says to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.”
God’s Word, time spent in prayer, and a thankful heartall important ingredients for our “spiritual routine!”
