Plug It In, Turn It On

Vacuum cleaners are an amazing invention. But as great as they are, there are two things that need to happen for them to work and become effective.

The first thing is that they have to be plugged into a power source. Electricity is a mighty source when it works, but nothing happens if it doesn’t.

The second thing that has to happen is we have to turn it on. It can be plugged in and still do nothing if we don’t flip the switch to “on.”

So how does this apply to us? God is our power source. We love to quote the first part of Ephesians 3:20 that says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.” But the rest of that verse says, “according to the power that works within us.” That power is God, but we have to tap into that power source by staying “plugged in.”

Now we are plugged into the power source but still nothing is happening. It’s up to us to turn the switch to “on.” That means we submit to His will and follow after Him. When we do that, we can accomplish amazing things for the Kingdom of God!
