Love, Pity, Mercy
There are some really great books in the Old Testament. Some of them are small and if we aren’t careful, we could overlook the message in those books.
Hosea 2:23 (AMP) says, “…I will have love, pity, and mercy for her who had not obtained love, pity, and mercy; and I will say to those who were not My people, You are My people, and they shall say, You are My God!”
That is such a beautiful verse. As I was reading it one day, something really stood out to me in that verse.
Like many of you, I am praying for a number of people to come to the Lord. And what I realized is that for all of them, I need to show love, pity, and mercy.
Showing love would be showing compassion for another’s suffering. Showing mercy would be showing leniency toward an enemy or wrongdoer.
So how does this apply to me? When I am praying for the lost to come to Jesus, I need to make sure I show them mercy and pity, but above all, love.
It’s that loveGod’s love through us, that will ultimately draw the sinner to repentance.
