Rejoicing
Though the fig tree should not blossom,
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail,
And the fields produce no food
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold,
And there be no cattle in the stalls.
Yet I will exult in the Lord.
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17,18
When I read this passage, I am reminded of a very important truth.
We don’t rejoice because the stalls are empty, but in spite of the fact that they are empty.
We can rejoice because we know that our God can turn our “emptiness” into His “fullness.”
We know that we trust in a God “who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.” (Eph. 3:20)
When we think of the greatness of our God, those empty stalls become a lot less intimidating!
