The White Picket Fence

When we lived in Michigan several years ago, it was a sad time for me. I had just lost my father before we moved, and my mom passed away while we were there. I was missing home, family, and life-long friends.

As I look back now, I am looking for the positives and takeaways I learned from that experience.

I have to say that I missed Chick-Fil-A more than I thought possible. But, on the flip side of that, there was an incredible soup restaurant with every kind of soup you can imagine!

But, there were some things that were much more important than food and restaurants. My mother was more than just a mother. During that time she was a treasured friend. I talked to her several times a day. I remember when I would drive home from the store or the place where I volunteered I would be talking with her on the phone and I would pass a white picket fence and I would say, “Momma, let’s pray.” And we would pray. I truly believe that those prayers carried me through a difficult time. And, I will never see another white picket fence without being reminded of the power of my mother’s prayers!

I encourage you today to look for the “white picket fences” in your life! They are there. You just have to look for them!
