Becoming a Deuteronomy 1 Believer
“…Go up and possess it, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said to you. Fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 1:21
“…Dread not, neither be afraid of them.” Deuteronomy 1:29
“The Lord your God Who goes before you, He will fight for you…” Deuteronomy 1:30
Many times we hear a sermon preached on Proverbs 31 and how we (as women) should try to be like the woman described in Proverbs 31. That’s a great idea!
But what about Deuteronomy chapter 1? What if we all, men and women alike, took that to heart and began to strive to do what that chapter says to the people to God?
These verses are very specific! They tell us to go and possess! That means to actively pursue what God has put in front of us.
They tell us to not be dismayed or afraid. And the most important thing, it tells us that God is going before us and fighting for us.
Think of it this way. Let’s just say you are going on a hike into an unknown forest. You experience fear because you have never been there before. But you have to go because there is something you want or need on the other side. The good news is, you have a guide who is equipped for the journey, he knows the way and he is out in front!
So this is what I am thinking. Let’s go and possess the land, unafraid, always remembering that God is going before us, fighting our battles! That’s a Deuteronomy 1 Believer!
