Baseball
I bet that got your attention! If you know me well, you probably know that I am not that big on sports. But I do enjoy watching a baseball game occasionally.
But that’s not really what this is all about. I have been thinking a lot about how we want to succeed in life. The word “succeed” means to accomplish what is attempted. Now wouldn’t it be great if we could always accomplish what we attempt?
Let’s look at the game of baseball. I am sure every player would love to hit a homerun every time he gets up to bat, but that’s not reality. Sometimes, we do hit a homerun! And how we love those times.
More often than not, we probably just get to first base, and then move on to second, third, etc… And, even when we do move from base to base, it’s still progress, still moving forward.
But what about those times when we actually strike out? Well, the good news is that we will probably have another chance to try again.
So what’s the life lesson in all of this? Let’s not be discouraged when we strike out. Let’s be thankful when we move forward one step at a time. And when we get that homerun, let’s celebrate!!!
Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.”
