Hurting, Broken or Pulverized

We are living in a broken, hurting world. If we just look around us, everywhere there are hurting people.

There are three words that have very different meanings. To be hurt means we are bruised or wounded. As bad as that is, bruises and wounds will heal in time.

Broken is a little more difficult. Broken is being shattered or cracked. And even that can usually be fixed.

But then there’s that word “pulverized.” Pulverized means being ground up or crushed into a fine powder. And what do you do with that?

Have you ever felt pulverized, crushed to a fine powder? When you think about it, that seems to be beyond repair.

But have you ever been to a really nice bakery? You know, the ones that display everything out front? You’re trying to make a decision and choose the best dessert, and then you see it! It’s an absolutely gorgeous cake, about five layers high, probably chocolate inside and iced with the most amazing butter cream icing. And to be honest, the inside doesn’t really matter because on the top of the cake, there is a candy bar that has been crushed and sprinkled over the entire top of the cake!

So, here’s the lesson…We may feel at times that we have been crushed beyond repair, that there is absolutely no way God can redeem our situation and make anything good out of it. But don’t give up too soon! Our God is so creative that He can take what looks like a crushed mess and use it in the most amazing way!

Only a ‘master baker” could take something that is seemingly worthless and make it into an elegant dessert. And only a “Master Creator” can take our messes and create them into something beautiful for His glory! And if you have forgotten, remember God thinks you are so special! He gave Heaven’s best for you!
