Stealing Our Joy
In John 10:10 it says, “The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy: I come that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”
This is a great verse to read and memorize. We know this is exactly what the enemy or thief does. He wants to kill and destroy us. He wants to totally wipe us out and make us ineffective.
But how does he begin? It all starts with “he comes to steal.” And what does he want to steal first? Our joy. Before he can ever destroy us, he wants to take our joy.
And this is how it begins. He starts by making us dissatisfied with what we have or don’t have. He is quick to point out comparisons with other believers. He will cause us to be hurt and offended. Satan is great at what he does!
There’s a Sunday School song that says, “The devil is a sly old fox,” and that he is.
In 1 Peter 5:9-10, it says that we should resist him being firm in our faith and God will perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anyone or anything to steal my joy!
