How Important is a Belt?

I was recently visiting my daughter and her family who live in Colorado Springs. We were shopping at a cute, little boutique. She spotted a belt and said, “Mom, that looks just like you!” And of course, I had to have it!

I personally think a belt is just the ultimate accessory. But it’s much more than that! Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

In the Living Bible, verse 14 says, “But to do this, you will need the strong belt of truth…”

It seems that people today don’t always speak truth. Sometimes it might be what we call “little white lies” or maybe just outright untruths. I want my words to be true and even more, I want my heart to be true.

The next time you reach for a belt, stop and consider the spiritual application. To stand firm against the schemes of the devil we need the strong belt of truth. My prayer is, “God help me to be truthful in all I say and do.”
