Patience
If I am honest, I would have to say patience is not my favorite word. When I looked it up in the dictionary it says, “the power to wait calmly.” Sometimes I don’t think I have that power!
I really like to know what I am doing tomorrow, the next day, and so on. I’m a planner. So patience and waiting are really hard for me.
I actually like the word wait a little better. In the dictionary it says wait means to “remain, expecting something.” That is a little bit easier. If I am waiting expecting something to happen, I can be more patient.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”
Sometimes God is saying to us, “Slow down. Wait on me!”
We all have “our” plans but are they “God’s plans?” It’s in the times that I am really seeking his direction, that I sense His peace. And isn’t that what we really want, God’s peace?
If we want to soar with the eagles, above the chaos of this world, let’s practice patience. And with great expectation, let’s “wait on the Lord!”
