Don’t Give In Or Give Out
In my personal devotions, I have been reading in the Book of Luke. In Chapter 22 verses 31-32, there is something Jesus says to Simon Peter that I think is really powerful!
It reads like this in the Message paraphrase: “Simon, stay on your toes. Satan has tried his best to separate all of you from me, like chaff from wheat. Simon, I’ve prayed for you in particular that you not give in or give out.”
Let’s break this down. “Stay on your toes.” Jesus is telling him to be alert and be careful because the enemy (Satan) is always at work. He wants to separate us from Jesus! John 10:10 says, “the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy…”
And then this might be the very best part! Jesus said, “Simon, I’ve prayed for you!” Just think about that! Jesus is on our side praying for us and cheering us on!
And then he says that we should not give in or give out! So, no matter what, we should never give up! Never give in! And never give out!
