Bold, Strong, Courageous

These are similar words we sometimes use interchangeably.

Courage means a lack of fear. Someone who is strong is powerful. And if we are bold, it means we are overstepping the usual bounds. I love that one!

Over and over, we see these words used in Scripture. In Joshua 1:6, God said to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous.” In verse 7, He said, “Be strong and very courageous.”

In Proverbs 28:1 it says, “The righteous are bold as a lion.” Now that’s an interesting thought! The lion is considered to be the “king of the jungle” so he really doesn’t have much to be afraid of.

What about you? Are you sometime anxious and fearful? If we are honest, we all are from time to time. But what if we purpose in our hearts that beginning today, we pray and ask God to help us to be “strong and very courageous, and bold as a lion.”

No matter what is going on in the world around us or in our private lives, God can help us to be bold, strong, and very courageous!
