Fight the Good Fight of Faith

The Word of God is so full of scriptures about love and joy and peace, that sometimes we forget we are also told to fight. 1 Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.”

We could substitute different words like “strive,” “struggle,” and “contend” for the word “fight.” But it all has the same meaning.

Every day we need to be ready for battle. That’s why we are instructed to put on the full armor of God. We need the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit, and shoes of peace.

When we walk out the door each morning, we probably won’t know the battles we will be facing, but if we have on the full armor of God, we will be ready! Let’s get excited! It’s not just any fight we are called to, it’s the good fight of faith! And we will be victorious because God is for us!
