Contentment

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have.” Hebrews 13:5

That’s a pretty direct and powerful verse. Living here in America, this might be hard for us to do. God has blessed us with so many blessings! Sometimes it seems like the more we have, the more we want.

But God’s desire for us is to be content and not always wanting more. He wants us to be free from the “love of money” and what it can bring us and to be content with the blessings He has given us.

This may seem like a hard thing to do, but let’s look at the rest of that verse. It reads like this: “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.’”

I would rather have the promise that God will never leave me than all the wealth in the world!
