Keep Your Mind “Stayed” on Jesus

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3

With all the chaos in the world around us, who doesn’t desire peace? Peace actually means “tranquility” or “quietness.”

As I was thinking about this verse, I was reminded of a day years ago when I was attending Bible college in Waxahachie, Texas. One morning a young man came to class and began to sing a song that said something like, “I woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Jesus.” It went on to say, “The devil can’t harm me when my mind is stayed on Jesus.”

I have not heard that song since, but I have never forgotten it. What a powerful thought! What if we woke up every morning with our minds “steadfast” or “stayed” on Jesus? What a difference it could make in our day!

As I was thinking about this, the thought came to me that waking up with our minds on Jesus is one thing, but keeping our thoughts there through the day might be more challenging. Maybe we need to remind ourselves who our hope and trust is inthe God who brings us peace and will never fail us!

Let’s keep our minds “stayed” on Jesus!
